Saints Depicted on the Icon
The Orthodox Church venerates around 120 saints with a direct connection to Switzerland. These saints come from all Christian centuries: from Venerable Beatus and Achatus, sent to Switzerland by the Apostle Peter, to St. John the Hierarch of Shanghai and San Francisco, a 20th-century miracle worker who fell asleep in San Francisco in 1966.
On the icon below, a click on the saints' panel will take you to short lives and, where available, liturgical texts.
Here you will find the Swiss saints who are not depicted on the icon.
