Synaxis of the Venerable Fathers of Agaunum

Founded by St. Sigismund in 515, the Territorial Abbey of St. Maurice stands over the tombs of the martyrs of the Theban Legion in the town of the same name (formerly Agaunum). Common feast day of all venerable abbots of this monastery is August 1 (14).

Troparion (Tone 4): O God of our fathers, ever deal with us according to your meekness. Take not your mercy from us, but by the prayers of these saints direct our life in peace.

• Venerable Severin († 507): hermit in Agaunum. Counts as the first dept. His individual feast day is on February 11 (24).

• Venerable Faustus († 513): Companion of Severin and second abbot. His individual feast day is on February 1 (14).

• Venerable Vitalius († 516): Abbot of Agaunum. His individual feast day is on May 29 (June 11).

• Venerable Hymn Mode († 516): Abbot of Agaunum. His individual feast day is on January 11 (24).

• Venerable Ambrose I († 522): Abbot of Agaunum. His individual feast day is on November 6th (19th).

• Venerable Tranquilinus († 526):. Abbot of Agaunum. His individual feast day is on December 12 (25).

• Venerable Achivus († 517): Abbot of Agaunum. His individual feast day is on March 29 (April 11).

• Venerable Paul I († 544): Abbot of Agaunum.

• Venerable Paul II († 550): Abbot of Agaunum and miracle worker. His individual feast day is on May 15 (28).

• Venerable Jucondinus († 600): Abbot of Agaunum.

• Venerable Secondinus († 622): Abbot of Agaunum.
